As of January 2019, Restaurant JAN has stopped working with single-use plastic. Over and above our ongoing commitment to producing as little waste as possible, we are further reducing our impact on the environment by cutting out the use of plastic wrap and other single-use plastics, using only reusable containers to store our food.

Did you know?

You can reduce your personal use of plastic in the following ways:

  • Buy loose produce instead of pre-packaged produce, and remember to take your own reusable bags on your grocery run.

  • Don’t buy plastic wrap (cling film). Use good, reusable containers (like glass jars) of varying sizes to store food like salads, cheeses and leftover dough.

  • Invest in reusable straws made of bamboo, glass or stainless steel.

  • When grabbing a coffee to go, look for coffee merchants who use recyclable takeout cups and don’t put a plastic lid on it. If you’re travelling, invest in a reusable cup you can take with you.

  • Nobody likes doing the dishes, but try to avoid eating with disposable crockery or cutlery, especially the plastic kind.
